Welcome to MacLeod Cottage – A Unique Place to Stay on the Isle of Lewis
Looking for places to stay on the Isle of Lewis?
MacLeod Cottage is the perfect self-catering accommodation for your Hebridean holiday – a peaceful retreat in the far north of the island, in the beautiful area of Ness. Here, you’ll find space to breathe. Escape the busyness of everyday life and enjoy the quiet rhythms of the island – where the light shifts constantly, and the Atlantic is always nearby.

Walk a new beach every day, explore dramatic cliffs, experience the wildlife, and breathe in the salt air. You'll be close to world-renowned landmarks like the Callanish Stones, Carloway Broch, and the Arnol Blackhouse, as well as cultural gems like An Lanntair gallery and the HebCelt Festival in Stornoway.
MacLeod Cottage has been in our family for generations. From here, we ran Breanish Tweed, producing handwoven fabrics for Savile Row tailors and fashion houses like Vivienne Westwood and Manolo Blahnik.
The house offers:
- Stunning sea views from every room
- A wood-burning stove
- A library of books – perfect for a bit of Hebridean hygge
- Peace and privacy on a quiet side road
Ness also has excellent local facilities:
- Spors Nis leisure centre (gym, a bowling alley, and more)
- The amazing Eoropie Dunes Park – perfect for families
- Handy local shops and good travel connections
